OUR PROGRAMS
From education to wellness, our programs create safe, supportive spaces where women and girls are nurtured, equipped, and empowered to become their greatest selves. Through hands-on learning, community care, and meaningful experiences, Trachouse Cares addresses real-life needs while building confidence, knowledge, and connection. Each program is thoughtfully designed to meet participants where they are—offering guidance, resources, and opportunities that support personal growth, self-worth, and long-term stability.
WORLD AFRO DAY
World Afro Day celebrates natural hair, culture, and identity among young girls and boys. Through interactive workshops, storytelling, and creative activities, participants learn to embrace their hair, build self-esteem, and honor the beauty of their roots. This program occurs annually during the second week in September.
"Absolutely loved this event, my daughter had an amazing time learning about her hair and its rich history. She also learned to love and care for her hair at the Detangle 101 station"

PERIOD.
Period. is an educational program designed to support girls navigating menstruation for the first time. We provide age-appropriate education, open conversation, and access to hygiene resources while helping break stigma and address period poverty in our community. We added this program on to our annual toiletry drive held in March During Women's History Month.
"I feel so much more at ease, because this was a conversation was terrified to have with my daughter. The medical students from Quinnipiac were great and the information you emailed from the presentation was valuable. With the book provided we can go over different topics at home."

BEAUTYPRENEURSHIP
In addition to emotional wellness programming, Trachouse Cares Foundation is deeply committed to apprenticeship, workforce development, and career exposure within the beauty industry. We have supported numerous young women through hands-on shadowing opportunities that allow participants to build real, on-the-floor skills alongside licensed professionals. Many of these experiences have evolved into formal apprenticeships and paid workforce placements—either within Trachouse Beauty Salon or through referrals to partner salons and beauty businesses.
As leaders in beauty-industry networking across Connecticut, Trachouse Cares actively connects emerging talent with mentors, educators, and employers, creating pathways that extend beyond training into sustainable careers. We also host hands-on and look-and-learn beauty courses and workshops throughout the year, open to the public, offering accessible education, skill development, and professional insight for aspiring and working beauty professionals alike.
Through education, mentorship, and opportunity, Trachouse Cares bridges passion with purpose—transforming interest into skill, skill into confidence, and confidence into career mobility.
"Social media gives a false sense of what being a successful entrepreneur and beauty pro looks like. This summer I enjoyed getting real life experiences from people that look like me that are actually doing the job I want to do everyday." - Jayla 2023

BLACK GIRLS BLOOM TOGETHER
Black Girls Bloom Together is a wellness-centered program that supports the emotional growth of Black girls ages 10–13 through guided conversation, reflection, and connection. In partnership with the Yale Child Study Center, the program provides a safe and affirming space for girls and their parent or trusted guardian to strengthen communication, build emotional literacy, and develop healthy ways to express feelings. Families leave with practical tools and resources that promote confidence, emotional safety, and early support—nurturing growth before challenges become crises.
